Sligo Library Visit

We are planning a visit to Sligo Library this Friday. Any child who is a member of the Library may bring their card and take out a book. If you are not a member the librarian will give out application forms. We are really looking forward to this class trip!

Science: The Solar System

3rd Class loved learning about the Solar System and we used this rhyme to help us remember the planets in order from the sun -
My Very Educated Mother Just Served Us Nine Pizzas!!

Pluto has been demoted to a dwarf planet recently. We learned about the planets linking in with our History - Race to Space.

Did you know?

-Mercury is the closest planet to the sun but Venus is the hottest because it traps the heat of the sun in clouds surrounding it!

- Pluto is the coldest, smallest and furthest "planet" away from the sun!

- Mars is nicknamed the Red Planet!

- Jupiter is the biggest planet!

The Universe is made up of stars, planets, asteroids, meteors, comets and moons - everything in outer space!!

BUT...

The Solar System is just made up of the Sun (a special star) and the nine planets!
